Cellomaschine (Ulrich Maiss, Lou Reed)

Ulrich Maiss (aka Cellectric), deutscher Cellist, wird am 24. November in Berlin das 64 Minuten dauernde Stück “CelloMachine” aufführen. Das Stück ist eine Variation über Lou Reeds Metal Machine Music, das seinerzeit (1975) den Beginn des Industrial markierte. Wie im Vorbild soll es auch in Maiss’ Version mit viel Tremolo und Feedback zur Sache gehen: “It is very loud. It is an extreme piece of performing art”. Auch Lou Reed hat gefallen an dem Projekt gefunden: “It’s like a rock approach to the cello - if you thought of the cello as a guitar with a feedback: off you go!”.
